Augustine University Students Shine at Archbishop Adewale Martins Catholic Faith Family Project Competition

Two students of Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, alongside their mother, have emerged victorious at the parish-level stage of the Archbishop Adewale Martins Catholic Faith Family Project Competition, a faith-based academic programme aimed at promoting scriptural knowledge and active family participation in the life of the Church.

The competition, organized by the Religious Education Department and the Lagos Archdiocesan Laity Council in collaboration with the Knights of St. John International & Ladies Auxiliary, Lagos Grand Commandery, is a catechetical contest that tests families on various aspects of Catholic faith and doctrine. These include:

- The Gospel according to Matthew
- ?Letters of St. Paul to the Corinthians (1 & 2)
- ?The Books of Numbers and Jeremiah
- ?The Church and Her Teachings
- ?Church History and Liturgy
- ?Sacred Vessels and Vestments
- ?Sacraments and Sacramentals

Representing their parish at the Festac Deanery level on 6th July 2025, the Umahi family, comprising Justin Ifeanyichukwu Umahi, a 200-level Information Technology student; Albert Chinedum Umahi, a 300-level Software Engineering student; and their mother, Mrs. Nonye Umahi, clinched victory at the event, held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac, Lagos State.

With this triumph, the family has qualified to represent Festac Deanery at the upcoming regional stage, which is scheduled to take place on 27th July 2025 at the Badagry region. They are also hopeful of advancing to the grand finale slated for 27th September 2025.

The Augustine University community congratulates the Umahi family on their achievement and wishes them success in the forthcoming rounds of the competition.
