ICAN’s 60th Diamond President Leads Delegation to Augustine University, Reaffirms Support for Members and Students

As part of efforts to strengthen institutional relationships and support its members in the Epe axis, the 60th Diamond President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Mr. Chizuoke S. Alaribe, FCA, paid a courtesy visit to Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, alongside his delegation on Wednesday, 23rd April, 2025.

The visit, which was part of the President’s familiarization tour of Epe and its environs, featured high-level engagement with the university’s management team, students, and representatives from the ICAN Epe and District Society led by its Chairperson, Mrs. Olayemi Esther Ajiboye, FCA.

During the meeting held at the Senate Chamber, Mr. Alaribe emphasized ICAN's commitment to upholding ethics and continuous professional development. He noted that the visit was not only to check in on members and registered students but also to foster collaboration with the University in empowering, training, and retraining staff members who are ICAN members, given the dynamic nature of today’s global landscape.

Receiving the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor of Augustine University, Professor Christopher Odetunde, warmly welcomed the team and acknowledged the positive contributions of ICAN members employed at the institution. “Our ICAN-affiliated staff are doing absolutely well, and we appreciate the Institute’s support in sustaining excellence and integrity in the accounting profession,” he stated.

Following the courtesy visit, the ICAN team proceeded to the University’s Convocation Hall, where they engaged with registered students on the significance of becoming a Chartered Accountant. The interactive session aimed at inspiring young aspiring accountants to pursue professional certification and embrace ethical standards in the profession.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of scholarship award letters to beneficiaries of the Accounting Technicians Scheme West Africa (ATSWA), as well as the conferment of an appreciation award on the Vice-Chancellor in recognition of his support for ICAN initiatives.

The event drew participants from institutions under the ICAN Epe and District Society as well as selected secondary schools within Epe, reinforcing the Institute’s commitment to grassroots engagement and talent development.
