 Philosophy of the Programme

The Physics programme is designed towards producing graduates with adequate and broad understanding of the basic concepts of Physics, complemented with applications-oriented courses that will advance the productive capacity of the graduates. The programme is further spiced with   other University courses that would assist our Physics graduates to be very relevant in production processes in fields such as, Communication, Oil and Gas, Electronics, Information Technology and Energy.

Aim of the Programme

The aim of the programme is to create knowledge by employing innovative teaching and learning methods that would assist our Physics graduates to be very relevant in all fields of human endeavour.

Objectives of the Programme

The specific objectives of the programme are to:

i.    Give the students an intellectually stimulating and satisfying experience in the  learning of Physics

ii.    Provide students with a broad and balanced foundation in Physics

iii       Develop in students the ability to apply Physics knowledge and skills to the solution of theoretical and practical problems

iv.    Expose students to industrial applications of physics that are of national interest

v.    Prepare students for possible post-graduate studies in Physics/Applied Physics and other Physics-related multi-disciplinary areas

vi.    Inculcate in the students the knowledge and skills needed for self-employment.

Admission Requirements

i) Credit level passes in five subjects in the SSCE/GCE/NECO or the equivalent must be obtained in not more than two sittings and must include English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and any other relevant science subject, Technology or Further Mathematics.

ii) The U.T.M.E. Subjects are English Language, Physics, Mathematics and any of Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science.

iii) The candidate must fulfill all other Admission Requirements as prescribed by the Senate of Augustine University.
